Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a vertical centrifugal casting mold which consists in providing gas venting channels communicating the upper and lower spaces of a sand mold on the contact surface of a taper sleeve and a sand mold disposed concentrically to an outside flask, with which gas venting is made easy and by which complete casting are obtainable.
CONSTITUTION: While the entire part of a mold is being rotated, molten metal is poured through the pouring port 6 opened in the central part of a cover 5. The gas generated in a sand mold 4 in contact with the molten metal and the sand mold 4 moves to the back of the sand mold 4 along with the rotation of the mold, and is released from gas venting channels 10 into the upper space 7 or lower space 8 of the sand mold 4 or from the 91' provided in the central part of the tapered sleeve 3. The gas shifted to the space 7 is released to the outside from the port 6, while the gas shifted into the space 8 passes through the gas hole 91 of the sleeve 3 and is further released to the outside through the gas hole 92 of a cylindrical outer flask 2 and/or the gas hole 93 of a cover 5. To provide the channels 10 in a manner as to give a helical angle θ in correspondence to the rotating direction of the mold, and to keep this angle within 0<θ<45° are preferable.
