Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a mold of extremely easy setting of shell molds and free from any center deviation and deformation which comprises an outside flask which is tapered on the inner side and is removable from a rotary table and a shell mold which is provided a mold corresponding to the outside shape of annular castings and is fitted and housed into said tapered parts.
CONSTITUTION: A case 3 is fixed to the rotary table 2 of a vertical centrifugal device 1. The outside shape of a vertically split type shell mold 8 assumes a tapered column shape fitting to the tapered portions 7a of an outside flask 7. The outside flask 7 containing this shell mold 8 is inserted into the case 3 and its bottom end is engaged with a molding borad 4. When a cover 5 is put on and is fixed by cotters 6, the setting of the mold may be accomplished easily and extremely rapidly. In addition, the mold 8 adheres closely to each other in one piece owing to the insertion to the tapered portions 7a. Next, the table 2 is rotated and molten metal 17 is poured. During this pouring, the outside flask 7 and the mold 8 are held in the predetermined positions by the molding board 4 and the cover 5, thus no center deviations occur. In addition, the mold 8 is firmly backed up by the outside flask 8 and therefore any center deviation and deformation do not occur.
