Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a metal or an alloy material having carbon spheres with polka dots with shape close to true sphere dispersed on a polished metal surface by dispersing carbon spheres into a molten metal or alloy and solidifying the same.
CONSTITUTION: Spherical carbon is added into a molten metal such as Cu, Al or Zn or a molten alloy such as brass, aluminum cast alloy or silzin bronze. As spherical carbon, a carbon sphere with a diameter of 0.3W15mm obtained by granulating a powder such as natural graphite, artificial graphite or coke spherically formed by using a binder such as a resin or the like and baking in N2 gas is employed. Said spherical carbon is concentrated to an upper portion of a molten metal and, after solidifying, the surface thereof is polished. Or, a molten metal having spherical carbon added and dispersed therein is treated by a centrifugal separation method to concentrate said spherical carbon on a desired surface. Thereby, a slide member such as a bearing or the like or a decorative article having polka dots are produced.
