Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize an output of semiconductor laser by a method wherein a life of laser element is not reduced and a fast reaction is made for a rapid variation of the output. CONSTITUTION:When a temperature of the laser 2 is kept constant and its output is Po, the laser beam is received at 3, the signal is amplified and a polarity of the laser is reversed at 11, and added at 12 with a reference signal 13. Thus, the output of addition 12 is in a reverse relation with the laser output and compared at 14 with a signal proportional to a laser driving current I from the resistor R. The current I is controlled so as to cause both signals to be equal with each other. In turn, Peltier element 16 is operated at 15 by the signals at both ends of the resistor R and the laser element 2 is forcedly cooled. This cooling operation is performed in reference to only a laser driving circuit I. As a result, when the output is varied, the laser driving current is increased or decreased to control the output and at the same time a temprature of the laser element is controlled in response to a degree of current, so that the output may quickly be stabilized and a deterioration of the laser element may be prevented.
