Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the thickness of a sooter coated on a cast ring by setting an optical displacement meter in a tangential direction with a measurement point established on the surface of a cast ring and providing a high-frequency oscillation displacement meter at the vertically upward part of said measurement point.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of a sooter-coated cast ring 1, a reference line a is set in a tangential direction with a measurement point P which represents a desired measurement surface and a laser beam scan rotary mirror 2 and a collimate lens 3 of a laser external diameter measuring machine is provided at one side on the reference line a, so that a parallel beam light is generated. At the other side, a light receiving sensor 4 is provided and also a high-frequency oscillation displacement meter 5 approximately 3W8mm distant vertically upward from the measurement point P. Then the center line of the laser external diameter measuring machine is fixed in such manner as to meet the reference line a and a displacement 8 from the reference line a is measured. At the same time, a displacement D'-D of the distance to the metal surface of the cast ring 1 at the measurement point P is measured by means of the high-frequency oscillation displacement meter 5. Thus it is possible to seek the thickness of a sooter correctly.
