Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible highly accuerate measurement and achieve the reduction in size and weight of the apparatus by making use of the light Doppler effect using laser light.
CONSTITUTION: Laser light from an oscillator 7 is expanded (n) times by a magnifier 8 and is divided to reference light R and sample light S by a semi-transparent mirror 9, which are then radiated through a total reflecting mirror 10 so as to intersect on the surface of a bullet 2. The scattering light having been reflected by the bullet 2 passes through an aperture 13 via the total reflecting mirror whose center is aligned to a reference axis and is then supplied to a photo detector 14. The detection output is then supplied to a frequency tracing device 16, by which the Doppler frequency fd is traced and measured. A sight 18 sets the central axis of the bullet 2 and the reference axis at a required angle. As a rsult, highly accurate measurement is made possible.
