Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect residual quantity of a toner with high reliability without addition of a new element, by detecting said quantity with the developer control material. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of toner layer 11 is controlled by developer support material 8 and doctor blade 10 which is the developer control material. This doctor blade 10 is rotatable round shaft 15 as the center and the tip of said 10 is pulled by spring 16 and is provided with microswitch 17 on the back end part. By this constitution, when magnetic toner 12 is filled in a developing equipment, toner 12 flows violently by rotation of support material 8, to depress switch 17 with blade 10. Then, toner 12 is reduced gradually; and when flowing force is weakened to make the toner reached a certain residual quantity, blade 10 is separated from switch 17. Thus, the residual quantity is detected with high precision without addition of a new element.
