Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a variation in a running speed of a turbine by mounting a flywheel on the way of a rotation shaft between the turbine and a generator so as to feed a steam being expanded inside the turbine into the flywheel.
CONSTITUTION: A flywheel 8 is provided on the way of a rotation shaft 9 aligned with a rotation shaft 5 of a turbine 3 and a rotation shaft 7 of a generator 6, connected to the flywheel 8, thereby increasing rotary inertia of those rotation shafts. A low-temperature and low-pressure steam on the way of expansion inside the turbine is extracted and carried from a cooling air feed pipe 19 into a casing 18 to cool the flywheel 8 becoming hot during a long running. The turbine can therefore steadily run on with less variation in revolution speed and provide an efficient operation without any overheat of the flywheel.
