Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform electrolytic polishing efficiently using a small quantity of electrolytic soln., by closely contacting a circumferential part of an opening made at the front of an electrolytic box, in which equipped with a cathode, with the surface of a material to be polished having a large area used as an anode, by applying electric current across both electrodes while supplying electrolytic soln., and by moving said electrolytic box alternately in the longitudinal and lateral directions.
CONSTITUTION: In electrolytic polishing of the surface of a material 1 which has large area to be polished and which is used as an anode, the circumferential part provided with a rubber packing 11 of the opening of an electrolytic box 9 having a cathode 12 in it, an opening at the front surface 9a, an inlet 13 and an outlet 14 for the electrolytic soln., is allowed to closely contact with the surface of said material 1 to be polished, then electrolytic soln. is charged between the material 1 and the electrolytic box 9, and electric current is applied across both the electrodes, while the electrolytic box 9 is moved along the surface of the material 1 longitudianlly and laterally in zigzags by means of a trolley 3 and an ascending and descending device 8, to perform polishing. This method makes it unnecessary to immers the material 1 into the electrolytic soln. and allows to reduce the capacity of a rectifier and to reduce the consumption of electrolytic soln. making polishing result obserbed during polishing.
