Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a uniform electrocoating film over the entire surface of a vessel by filling water-soluble paint in a hermetic metal vessel, disposing an electrode therein and applying voltage while changing the posture of the vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Water-soluble paint A is filled in the work 1, which is a metal vessel, to the extent of allowing air part B to remain in the upper part, thence an electrode 21 is disposed in the paint A. With this work 1 held inclined in one way, voltage is applied between the electrode 21 and the work 1, then the positively charged paint ions are attracted to the inside surface of the work 1 and a coating film 2 is uniformly formed over the entire surface of the inside part 1a in contact with the paint A. Thence, the power supply is once cut off, and the work 1 is tilted to the opposite side. When the power is supplied after this, a film 33 is formed on the inside surface part 1b which had been in contact with air during the previous coating. Even if there are parts of the inside surface of the work 1 where air exists, the electrocoating film is formed over the entire part of the inside surface of the work 1 by this method.
