Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the efficiency with a long standard period in case the output voltage for car radio device which is controlled with the car battery used as an input voltage source is obtained, by securing an operation in separated sections where the input voltage is lower than, equal to and higher than the output voltage respectively.
CONSTITUTION: The switching regulator consists of the control circuit 1, inductance L, capacitance C and transistor TR each. Now the output voltage is set to Vout according to the operation in the period A during which the input voltage Vin is lower than the output voltage. As a result, the TR3 is always turned off, and the TR1 is turned off and on when the TR is on and off respectively. Then the input voltage emerges directly at the output side during the period B when the Vin is identical to the Vout. And similarly in the period B, the circuit 1 has no operation in the period C during which the Vin becomes higher than the Vout. At the same time, the TR is turned off. As a result, the efficiency can be increases in case the period of the standard input voltage is long.
