Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a tensioning device of small size and maintenance-free usable even in a marshy district, by application of a shock absorbing hydraulic cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: An initial tension adjusting hydraulic cylinder is provided with a pressure chamber 122 having a sectional area A2 and connected to an accumulator 110 through a check valve 111. A hydraulic shock absorbing cylinder 121 is provided with a sectional area A1 larger than the sectional area A2 and connected to the accumulator 110 through a check valve 112 and a relief valve 113 in parallel to the check valve 112. The both cylinders are connected in series and mounted between an idler wheel 4 and a track frame 2. After the initial tension is adjusted by the pressure of the accumulator 110, the cylinder 122 is not contracted due to the function of the check valve 111, and the shock of force F applied to the idler wheel can be absorbed by opening the relief valve 113 to permit the telescopic movement of the cylinder 121.
