Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible such high reliability connection of submarine optical cables that makes job easy by leading optical fibers and feed conductors into a submarine optical repeater and separating containing the optical fibers in water-resistant pipes of small diameters. CONSTITUTION:A water-resistant pipe 3 serving to contain an optical fiber containing the aggregate of multiple optical fibers 2 and to feed power is disposed at one end of a submarine optical repeater 1. A pressure-resistant pipe branching part 5 is provided to the end part of the pipe 3 by being interposed with an insulator 4 of ceramics, ''Teflon '', etc. and one ends of multiple small-diametr water-pressure- resistant pipes 6 having corrosion resistance for containing the fibers 2 respectively is connected to the end of the part 5. Taking out of the connecting part to the outside of the submarine repeater 1, connecting the cable and containing it again into the repeater are made possible safely and easily by making use of the flexibility of the small-diameter water-resistant pipes and the elasticity by the containing construction of a coil spring shape in this way.
