Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow coke to descend faster through a quenching equipment with approach of coke to the equipment wall and thereby to improve the heat exchanging efficiency between coke and a quenching gas and to increase the cooling capacity of the equipment, by attaching to the bottom of the equipment, coke discharge means outwardly, downwardly and obliquely extending from the bottom.
CONSTITUTION: To the bottom of the body 11 are attached three radially, obliquely and downwardly extending discharge pipes 16 for discharging equenched coke. Red- hot coke C is charged from a charge port 13, and a quenching gas G is introduced from a quenching gas feed pipe 18. The quenching gas G flows upwardly while quenching the descending coke C and then, is discharged from a discharge pipe 19. The quenched coke C flows into the discharge pipes 16 and then is discharged therefrom. On account of such a structure, the descending speed of coke becomes higher with approach of coke to the wall and hence the quenched coke C is discharged faster, the dwell time in the equipment is shortened and the capacity is increased. Since the quenched coke C is discharged faster, the average temperature within the equipment becomes higher and the temperature difference between coke C and the quenching gas becomes greater. As a result, the heat exchanging effiency is improved.
