Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time to remove foreign matters and largely raising yield of plating operation by removing foreign matters from an aperture between the tip of a snout immersed in a molten metal bath and the surface of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:After temporarily discontinuing plating operation for a metal material 1 to be plated in a continuous galvanizer, an inert gas-injecting cock 11 is opend to inject an inert gas, e.g., N2 gas, into a snout 4 under pressure. Then, a pinion gear 13 is turned, the snout 4 is moved upwards from a molten metal bath 5 by means of the movement of a rack gear 14, and an aperture is formed between the snout 4 and the bath 5. Then, foreign matters in the snout 4 are removed by a dipper-shaped ladle, etc., and then the gear 13 is turned reversely to move the snout 4 downwards and make it immersed in the bath 5. Then, the cock 11 is closed and plating operation is restarted.
