Abstract

1312173 Extracting cores from castings PROEKTNO - KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO ELEKTROGIDRAVLIKI GOSPLANA UKRAINSKOI SSR 26 Aug 1971 40076/71 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] Apparatus for removing cores from castings comprises a bath 2 for containing a liquid, at least one electrode, and platforms 7 mounted in guides 6 on a framework 5, said platforms being alternately movable into and out of the bath. The castings 4 to be treated are loaded on and unloaded from the platforms when the latter are in their raised positions, and are subjected to a high-voltage discharge from the electrodes when immersed in the liquid. The electrodes are mounted in a carriage 19 which is movable both vertically and horizontally, and have metal pins (29) attached to a collar mounted on the lower portion of the electrodes, said pins being used to establish the correct spark gap between the electrodes and the casting. Dross is removed from the bath through a pipe 31.
