Abstract

Iron oxide particles entrained in the gas evolved when iron is refined with oxygen are removed from the gas by a wet separation method, freed from excess water, and mixed with an oxide of an alkaline earth metal. The mixture may be further mixed with fine iron ore and then sintered, to render it suitable for reduction in a blast furnace.
