Abstract

Appts. for electrohydroblasting castings includes a bath, a movable platform mounted in vertical guides on the sides of the bath and a loading device which has horizontal guides for conveying castings to and from the bath. A pube-current generator is connected to an electrode supported above the bath for immersion into the bath to produce an electrohydraulic effect. Used for removing core and moulding sands stuck to the castings surfaces. The appts. can be used for cleaning large castings, viz 100-40,000 kg. The guide section above the bath is attached to the movable platform and so eliminates obstacles to loading of the castings of any width. Compensating devices are provided for misalignment of the platform and the casting feed system. The castings are loaded into the bath from one side and removed from the opposite side and provides for a greater throughput.
