Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of breadth of the steel slab, in the hot strip rolling line including the edging work for the steel slab, by feedback-controlling the error in the size of breadth of slab, to be caused by the deformation characteristic of the slab itself, depending on the variation of the rolling load corresponding to the spring-back constant of the slab. CONSTITUTION:For manufacturing the hot strip by hot rolling the slab, the slab is first processed by the edging pass; hereupon, if the spring constant of the rolling mill is taken as Ke, the spring-back constant of the slab itselt is taken as Kb, similarly taking the rolling load as P, the variation of rolling load as DELTAP, the roll gap of rolling rolls as S, the variation of the roll gap as DELTAS, and a constant as alpha, the error in the breadth of the slab is feedback-controlled so as to satisfy a relation, alpha.DELTAP (1/Ke+1/Kb)+DELTAS=0; hereby, the rolling reduction for the breadth of slab is properly controlled, and the fluctuation of accuracy in breadth of the slab is minimized.
