Abstract

PURPOSE: To heat air-fuel mixture of an internal combustion engine effectively, by providing a heater which is supported at the bottom of an intake passage of the engine by means of an extension pipe formed with many small apertures.
CONSTITUTION: A horizontal intake manifold 3 is connected, by the intermediary of a heat insulating member 4, to the lower portion of a vertical intake passage 1 having a throttle valve 8. At the bottom of the intake passage 1, there is depended an extension pipe 15 which is supported by the heat insulating member 4. A plurality of small apertures 18 are formed in the side wall of the extension pipe 15, and an electric heater 20 is provided at the bottom of pipe 15. With such an arrangement, liquid fuel dripped onto the surface of the heater 20 can be vaporized effectively.
