Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate intake air heating in the case of a cross flow type engine equipped with the intake and exhaust pipes consisting of different air cylinders provided on the same side, by forming on the intake and exhaust pipe area on the same side, a heating part which heats the intake air with exhaust air heat.
CONSTITUTION: Air intake pipes 32, 32 of the first and fourth cylinders 12, 18 of a cross flow type engine are formed on the same side, and the exhaust pipes 62, 62 formed on the other side. Further, exhaust pipes 52, 52 of the second and third cylinders 14, 16 are formed on the same side, and besides air inlet pipes 36, 36 formed on the other side. And heating areas 46, 50 are formed, as upper and lower partitions divided by a heating reiser not shown in the figure, on the confluences of the air intake pipe 32 and the exhaust pipe 52 on one same side, and the air inlet pipe 36 and the exhaust pipe 62 on the other same side, respectively.
