Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a gas laser device by employing a high frequency voiceless discharge instead of DC glow discharge for gas molecule excitation necessary for laser oscillation and thereby reducing the pressure loss and gas flow velocity and consequently decreasing the capacity of the blower. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 12, 13 having length of discharge tube 1 confronting the outer periphery of the tubular discharge tube 1 made of dielectric material are covered with aluminum fusion welding, and a high frequency power source 14 is connected thereto. Two gas distribution tubes 17, 18 having substantially equal length are arranged in parallel with the tube 1 at the down side of the tube 1, and are connected to the tube 1 through guide passages 15, 16. Then, An air feed tube 8 is connected to one end of the tube 17, is closed at the other end, an air feed tube 7 is provided at the opposite end while arranging reversely the tube 17 at the tube 18, and is closed at the other end in the same manner. A blower 9 and a heat exchanger 10 are provided between the tubes 7 and 8. Thus, the device can be reduced with low applied voltage by employing a high frequency voiceless discharge for exciting the laser.
