Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the recording of the high-frequency band signal in a good condition, by forming plural numbers of gaps having differnt magnetic flux densities at the core tip of a magnetic head via a magnetic plate.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic plate 4 is inserted into the gap at the tipe of the core 2 of the magnetic head 1, and thus gaps 5 and 6 are formed. The coils 8 and 9 are wound to the core half bodies 31 and 32 each. In this case, the magnetic core part 3a of the same form as the plate 4 is adhered in a body onto the gap forming surface of the body 31. Then the electric conduction is given to the coils 8 and 9, and thus the magnetic flux density becomes coarse at the gap 5 and dense at the gap 6 respectively since the cross-sectional area in the forming direction of mangetic path differs between the gaps 5 and 6. In other words, the magnetic flux 24a produced in front of the gap 5 is comparteively small owing to the high-frequency bias current, and thus the magnetization ig given at a shallow part of the magnetic layer 23a. While the magnetic flux 24b produced in front of the gap 6 is large with the magnetization given up to a deep part of the layer 23a. As a result, a high-fidelity recording becomes possible for the high-frequency band signal.
