Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the frequency property and then increase the recording magnetic field for the thin-film magnetic head having a coil between the poles, by providing a specific taper at the tip of the pole. CONSTITUTION:The thin-film magnetic head is formed by distributing the conductor 2 to form the recording/reproducing coil into the gap 3 between a pair of poles consisting of the magnetic layers 1a and 1b. In such head, a taper face having an angle theta of 30-80 deg. (preferably 40-70 deg.) to the center face of the gap is provided at the tip of the layer 1b.
