Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a compound titanium oxide particles of needlelike shape, etc. in which the particles are oriented in a given direction, by molding needlelike titanium dioxide particles under uniaxial pressure, cutting the molded particles, and reacting the cut aggregate thus obtained with a desired raw material.
CONSTITUTION: Titanium dioxide particles having needlelike crystals are kneaded with a binder, etc. and molded into a thin plate or wire, which is then cut to give an aggregate to titanium particles in which the particles are oriented in a given plane or direction. The resultant aggregate is mixed with particles of barium carbonate forming a compound titanium oxide, e.g. barium carbonate, reacted by the heat treatment, and pulverized to give needlelike or prismatic compound titanium oxide particles, e.g. barium titanate. A sintered porcelain of compound titanium oxide in which the crystal orientation of crystalline particles is directed in a given plane or direction can be prepared from the resultant particles.
