Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the foaming of the reaction solution and thereby to make it possible to stably carry out the reaction even at high polyolefin concentrations, by employing in combination, an F-containing organopolysiloxane and a dispersant, in the chlorosulfonation of polyolefin by a solution process.
CONSTITUTION: A reaction solution is prepared by dissolving 100pts.wt. of polyolefin such as PE or PP in an organic solvent such as a halogenated solvent such as carbon tetrachloride and adding further at least 0.001pt.wt. of an F-containing organopolysiloxane such as a compound of formula I or II and at least 0.005pt.wt. of a dispersant such as acetone or ethyl acetate. Then, a chlorosulfonated polyolefin is obtained by carrying out the chlorosulfonation by adding chlorine plus sulfur dioxide or chlorine plus sulfuryl chloride.
EFFECT: The percent conversion is improved, and the removal of acids from the reaction solution is easy.
