Abstract
PURPOSE: To form the potential images that can be preserved on isolated conductor surfaces by a specific method after image exposure by providing a transparent conductive layer, a patternlike opaque layer, a photoconductive layer, a patternlike insulation layer, pattern electrodes, a polarization layer and discontinuous isolated conductors successively on a transparent substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A transparent conductive layer 2 is formed on a transparent substrate 1 and a patternlike transparent layer 3 on the layer 2, by means of C, Ag, etc. A photoconductive layer 4 is formed on the layer 3 by means of an inorg. or org. photoconductive material. Further, an insulation layer 6 of the patterns corresponding to the patterns of the layer 3 is formed on the layer 4 by means of a synthetic resin and the pattern electrodes 5 which are enclosed except their top surface are formed on the insulation layer 6 by means of a conductor such as Cr. A sustentive polarization layer 7 is formed on the surfaces of the layers 4, 5, 6 by using BaTiO etc., and discontinuous isolated conductors 5 are formed on the layer 7 by a vapor deposition method of In2O3, Al, etc. Voltage is applied on the layer 3 and electrodes 5 of the resulted image forming member to give directivity to the polarization, after which images 14 are exposed 17 to the differ the polarization states of exposed parts 19 and unexposed parts 18, whereby the potential images that can be preserved are formed on the surface of the isolated conductors 8.
