Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the sensitivity and to reduce the residual potential and the fatigue after repeated uses by dispersing an inorganic N type semiconductor in an organic charge generating layer so that the electrons generated may easily flow to a substrate side.
CONSTITUTION: A dispersion, which is composed mainly of an organic charge generating pigment, 50 to 10 wt. % binder and 0.5 to 20 wt. % of inorganic N type simconductor such as ZnO having a smaller diameter than 5 microns, is applied to and dried on a conductive substrate thereby to form a charge generating layer having a thickness less than about 5 microns. There is further applied a solution, which is composed mainly of a charge moving substance and 20 to 80 wt. % of binder, thereby to form a charge moving layer having a thickness of about 20 to 50 microns.
