Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve hardness and shock resistance by boronizing the surface layer of a Co base alloy consisting of Cr, W, Ni, C, Si, Mn and Co in specified composition and having specified micro-Vickers hardness. CONSTITUTION:A Co base alloy is formed of 3-85% Cr, 3-30% W, <=30% Ni, <=3% C, <=2% Si, 1% Mn, <=2% Fe and the rest inevitable impurities and Co in weight percentage to have microVickers hardness of 200-800. Then, the surface layer of this Co base alloy is boronized to form a surface hardened layer having hardness Hv of 700-3,000 and thickness of surface hardened layer of 10-200mu.
