Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the discharge characteristics and the preservation characteristics of a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery by using manganese dioxide, which is obtained by subjecting manganese nitrate to microwave irradiation, as a positive active material. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 1 consisting of pellets is placed on the bottom of a positive-electrode can 2. A separator 3, a liquid-absorbing paper 4 and a rolled lithium disc-plate 5 are placed on the positive mixture 1, in that order. A gasket 7 is interposed between the positive-electrode can 2 and a negative lid 6, which is placed on the disc plate 5, to hermetically seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery. The active material of the positive mixture 1 of such a battery is manganese dioxide, which is made from manganese nitrate by subjecting it to microwave irradiation. Pulselike microwave are preferred to be used for the irradiation.
