A separator 3, a liquid-absorbing paper 4 and a rolled lithium disc-plate 5 are placed on the positive mixture 1, in that order. A gasket 7 is interposed between the positive-electrode can 2 and a negative lid 6, which is placed on the disc plate 5, to hermetically seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery. The active material of the positive mixture 1 of such a battery is manganese dioxide, which is made from manganese nitrate by subjecting it to microwave irradiation.
