Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a glass substrate from being cracked and improve the ratio of nondefective products by preheating the whole substrate, locally heating the sealing section, and sealing it. CONSTITUTION:The switch S2 of a preheating heater power supply P2 is closed, voltage is applied to a preheating heater 3 which is provided on a gas discharge panel 2, and the gas discharge panel is heated up to the preset temperature. When the gas discharge panel 2 is raised up to the preset temperature, the switch S3 of a local heating power supply P3 which is connected to the local heating heater 4 of a sealing section which is provided near glass substrates 21 and 22 is closed. Then the sealing section is sealed by applying voltage to the local heating heater 4.
