Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain alkali monofluorophosphate by treating alkali metaphosphate with hydrogen fluoride and neutralizing the product with an alkali metal salt soln.
CONSTITUTION: Alkali metaphosphate is fluorinated with hydrogen fluoride at ordinary temp.Wabout 150°C by mixing hydrogen fluoride gas into the metaphosphate by an equimolar amount or more. The metaphosphate is used in the form of powder, granules or the like. The resulting alkali hydrogenmonofluorophosphate is neutralized with an alkali metal salt soln. such as a soln. of caustic soda or sodium carbonate. The temp. is preferably kept at about 0W20°C. After the reaction the neutralization product is separated by suction filtration and dried at ≤about 100°C. Thus, alkali monofluorophosphate is easily manufactured.
