Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Electron gun vacuum room 4 is fitted to the side face of welding vacuum room 9, and materials 10 and 10' to be welded of round sections are put in welding vacuum room 9. Pressure in vacuum room 9 is reduced, and electron beam 7 is generated from the electron gun while rotating rotary stand 11 where materials 10 and 10' to be welded are put, and the electron beam is accelerated and focused by grid 2 and anode 3 and is further focused and deflected by fixed focusing coil 5 and deflecting coil 6 to weld circumferential faces of materials 10 and 10' in welding part 12. In this case, movable focusing coil 18 is provided between fixed focusing coil 5 and materials 10 and 10', and when terminal processing bead 13 is formed in welding part 12, movable focusing coil 18 is moved to focus the electron beam and reduce the diameter of it, thus preventing defects such as blowholes in terminal processing bead 13.
