Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the bonding defect of clad materials and the inclusion of oxides by automatically welding two kinds of metal plates at their circumference by gas shielding type in a vacuum chamber then subjecting the same to hot rolling.
CONSTITUTION: Two kinds of metal plates 1, 1' are superposed and are put in a vacuum chamber 2. The inside of the vacuum chamber 2 is brought to a vacuum degree of about 10-1W10-2 torr. The boundary part of the entire circumference of the metal plates 1, 1' is welded by using an automatic welding machine 3 of gas shielding type such as MIG welding, TIG welding and plasma welding. Thence, it is heated and is hot rolled. This method reduces equipment cost considerably, makes yield better than that by gas venting method or the like and yields the clad material of good quality.
