PURPOSE:To raise the cooling effect of a rotary electric machine by forming vent holes at the axial end of the rotor spoke and the boss cylindrical surface for the cooling air, and installing a motor-driven blower in the boss cylinder, thereby reducing the cooling air flow resistance to the rim duct. CONSTITUTION:In a rotor in which annular rim 2 is disposed on the outer periphery of a rotor spoke 2 and salient poles 4 are mounted on the outer periphery, vent holes 9 are formed at the axial end 2a of the rotor spoke 2, and a number of vent holes 10 are formed on the cylindrical surface of the boss cylinder of the rotor spoke. Further, a motor-driven blower 11 is installed in the boss cylinder. Thus, the cooling air to the rim duct 5 is also supplied from the vent holes 10 of the boss cylinder, and necessary air flow rate can be secured even in a high speed large- capacity electric machine.
