Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound extremely safely, efficiently in high yield, useful as a wide range antibiotic, by reacting a 7-aminocephalospholanic acid derivative with a novel compound having high reactivity in mild conditions as an acylating agent.
CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is halogen, azide, acetoxy, or benzimidazolethio) or its salt is reacted with a novel compound shown by the formula II (R2 is H, methyl carboxymethyl, or methyl sulfonate), to give a cephalosphorin compound shown by the formula III or its pharmaceutically accetable salt. The compound shown by the formula II is obtained in high yield by reacting a compound shown by the formula IV with mandelic acid. The reaction is carried out without severe temperature control and side reactions by the use of the compound shown by the formula II. Both reaction of acylation and substitution are carried out simultaneously under the same conditions to shorten the process extremely. It has improved workability and maintenance free from irritant action and hygroscopicity.
