Abstract
PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of clogging over a long period of time by forming a filter layer on the surface of a filter cylinder by means of filter members comprising long-sized yarns or rectangular strip cloths, rotating the cylinder and repeating filtration and the removal of the adsorbed suspended solids at every half turn of the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: An outer tank 1 consists of an upper filter chamber 3 on which a raw water supply pipe 2 is faced, and a lower damper chamber 4 which serves as an upper filter chamber 3 and a precipitate well. A filter cylinder 5 is equipped in the chamber 3 in such a manner that it rotates at low speed. The end part of a conduit 6 connecting to a water suction pipe through one end plate is opened in the cylinder 5. This cylinder is constituted by piercing multiple small holes 8, 8... in its porous cylindrical member 7, and fixing the filter members 9 consisting of long-sized yarns of rectangular strip cloths respectively at one end to align them densely in a circumferential direction so as to cover the entire outside surface of the cylinder. If this filter cylinder 5 is rotated in an arrow direction at low speed, a filter layer is formed on the surface of the cylinder. In a half turn, the adhered solids are removed and in the next half turn the filtration is accomplished with always clean surface.
