Abstract
PURPOSE: To readily separate the suspended matter deposited on the filter cloth by backwashing the tufted filter cloth provided on a cylindrical barrel surface with the filtrate and supplying air through the filtrate pipe from the inside of the filter cloth to the outside.
CONSTITUTION: An endless-form tufted filter cloth 8 is mounted to the barrel surface of a cylinder 1 which has liquid permeability to constitute a filter barrel 2. When the tufted filter cloth 8 causes clogging by suspended matter, the filtrate is supplied as backwashing liquid through the filtrate pipe 14 while the filter barrel 2 is being rotated and is flowed into the filter barrel 2 through liquid collecting and distributing holes 5, whereby it is passed through the tufted filter cloth 8. At the time of this backwashing, air is simultaneously supplied to an air supply pipe 6 and is pressure fed to the filter barrel 2 through the liquid collecting and distributing holes 5 of the revolving shaft 4 through the air hole 9 of the air diffusing pipe 7. This method lets the fine suspended matter of colloidal form or the like deposited on the tufted filter cloth 8 be readily seprated.
