Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to obtain the required pressure and state of operation at each stage of the compressor in response to change of various operational conditions, by controlling inlet guide vanes and diffuser vanes.
CONSTITUTION: Signals relating to the state of operation and the operational condition at each stage of the compressor, produced by a flow detector 20, temperature detector 21 and pressure detector 22, are afforded to a control unit 23. From these signals, an air-flow rate and compression ratio at each stage of the compressor are calculated. The state of operation thus detected from the above calculation is judged to be optimal or not to the operational condition at the time. If not, the control quantities to the inlet guide vanes 11W14 and the diffuser vanes 15W18 are adjusted. Thus, it is enabled to control the state at each stage of compressor to a required operational condition, in particular, to a required compression ratio or head.
