Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure that an optimal operating efficiency can be obtained, by presetting a certain selective relationship and a certain functional relationship among the manipulated variable of inlet guide vanes and of diffusers and controlling the vanes and diffusers based on the functions.
CONSTITUTION: The variables of state of air in a compressor are detected by flow rate, temperature, and pressure sensors 20W21, while the shaft power of a driver 2 is detectd by a power detector 23. A controller 24 is provided between a drive 19 and the detectors 20W23. A certain selective relationship and a certain functional relationship are predetermined for the manipulated variables of inlet guide vanes 11W14 and of diffusers 15W18, and the functions are prememorized in the controller 24. Then, an optimal operating efficiency can constantly be obtained by determining and controlling the manipulated variables of the vanes 11W14 and of the diffusers 15W18 for various kinds of variations in the operating conditions.
