Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure that a predetermined efficiency in an optimal range corresponding to actual efficiency can be obtained, by controlling the angles of inlet guide vanes and of diffusers according to the actual efficiency obtained from operating conditions detected sequentially.
CONSTITUTION: Detectors 20W23 detect the variables of state such as flow rate, pressure, temperature, and shaft power of compressors 1 and 4W7, and the detection values are fed to a controller 24. Based on the variables of state, the controller 24 determines the present operating conditions from such factors as efficiency calculated from torque or the like, shaft power, theoretical pneumatic power, and flow rate. Then, it is judged into which one of plural operation ranges predetermined in correspondence with efficiencies the present operating conditions fall, and the angles of guide vanes 11W14 and of diffusers 15W18 are controlled according to the range in question, to conduct operation at a predetermined efficiency.
