Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a cooling performance of the liner for a cylinder made of aluminum die cast of an air-cooled engine by a method wherein cavities are provided in a part of circumference of the liner and the cylinder may be exposed at a part of the sliding surface of the piston. CONSTITUTION:Divided liners 1a to 1c made of cast iron are formed with projections and cavities having a space 2 therein at their adjoining surfaces, while these liners 1a to 1c are internal chill cast with the cylinder 3 made of aluminum die cast, air cooling fins 3a are arranged at the outer circumference of the cylinder 3 and thereby forming a cylinder block 4 for air-cooled engine. In this case, a part of the cylinder 3 made of aluminum die cast is exposed at the sliding contact surface 5 of the piston at a spaced apart part 2'. Accordingly, a heat generated by the piston 6 sliding on the sliding surface 5 is directly transmitted to the cyliner 3 and radiated therefrom to perform an effective cooling of the liners 1a to 1c.
