Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a pressure loss in intake and exhaust strokes and to improve a fuel consumption by a method wherein a plurality of intake and exhaust valves for opening and closing a combustion chamber is simultaneously opened or closed in cooperation with the opening or closing operations of an intake control valve and exhaust control valve. CONSTITUTION:In an intake stroke, the intake control valve 8 in the intake pipe 6 is opened and the exhaust control valve 9 in the exhaust pipe 7 is closed. At this time, a plurality of intake or exhaust valves 10 are started to open simultaneously with an opening operation of the exhaust control valve 9, and the valve 10 is closed simultaneously with a valve closing stroke of the intake control valve 8 as shown in the graph. In this case, all the valves 10 are simultaneously opened to decrease a pumping loss caused by a resistance of intake. Thereafter, an exhaust stroke is performed through each of the compression and explosion strokes. In the exhaust stroke, all the intake and exhaust valves 10 are opened simultaneously with an opening operation of the exhaust control valve 9, the exhaust gas is discharged at a stroke.
