Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the production of NOx by means of controlling the maximum combustion temperature in the cylinder, by returning a proper volume of exhaust gas in an exhaust passage directly into the cylinder in such a way that an exhaust valve is opened temporarily just before an air-intake valve has been closed.
