Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain a stable and high-efficient reaction in an anaerobic digestion vessel, by removing gaseous CO2 using as a control signal the content of gaseous CO2 in the digested gas discharged from the anaerobic digestion vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge is supplied through a sludge supply conduit 3 to an anaerobic digestion vessel 1, and digested sludge is withdrawn through a sludge withdrawal conduit 2. The gas generated by the digestion is extracted through a gas withdrawal conduit 4 and cycled by a gas blower 5. The withdrawn gas is branched off by a magnetic valve 6, one of which is fed to the vessel 1 for stirring the contents in the vessel, while the other of which is carried through an absorption tower 12 to a gas recycling conduit 15 and flowed into a gas recycling conduit 7. A NaOH solution received in a tank 13 is atomized into the absorption tower 12 by a pump 14. The gaseous CO2 in the gas generated by digestion is removed at the tower 12. On the other hand, the gas generated by digestion is led to a CO2 detector 9 and the signal of the detected CO2 content is supplied to a control device 10. The control device 10 controls the solenoid valve 6 and the pump 14 so as to bring the detected CO2 content close to a preset value of a set-up device 11. Consequently, a stable reaction is maintained in the vessel 1 and the yield of CH4 is enhanced.
