Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the discharge rate and storability of a cell, by using a member comprising a porous nickel material of three-dimensional network and porous material of silver or the like and having a specific structure, as a current collector between a positive electrode mainly composed of divalent silver oxide and a positive electrode case. CONSTITUTION:On a positive electrode case 1 a positive electrode pellet 6 made of AgO is provided through an insulating layer 7, and on top of this pellet a current collector 9 is placed and arranged in such a manner that its protruding portion beyond the peripheral edge of the positive electrode pellet 6 is urged against the bottom face of the positive electrode case 1 by a gasket 8. Further, on top of this collector a negative electrode active material 3 consisting of a separator 5, impregnation material 4 and amalgamated zinc is provided and sealed by a negative electrode sealing plate 2 with the gasket 8 interposed to form a cell. Said current collector 9 is constructed by a porous nickel material of three-dimensional network. A porous silver or monovalent silver oxide material 10 of a three-dimensional network is provided at the side of the positive electrode pellet 6.
