Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc-air cell having high rate discharge capability, low self-discharge rate, and excellent shelf life by bonding a zincate ion nonpermiable separator on the surface of an air electrode with the mixture of polyvinyl alcohol and a boron oxide compound and an alkaline resistant gelling agent. CONSTITUTION:An air electrode 6 which the mixture of polyvinyl alcohol and a boron oxide compound and an alkaline resistant gelling agent is coated on its nickel net surface 3 to form an adhesive layer 4, thereon a zincate ion nonpermiable separator is bonded, is accommodated in a cathode can 2 perforated air inlet holes in its bottom. An anode material 7 mainly comprising zinc is filled, and an anode can 9 is inserted with a gasket 8 interposed, and a cell is closed to obtain an zinc-air cell having high rate discharge capability, low self-discharge rate, and excellent shelf life.
