Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain optical magnetic recording medium easy for tracking of optical beam in reading and writing, by alternately arranging the area having an easy magnetizing axis orthogonal to the film surface and the area not having it, in an optical magnetic recording medium of vertical magnetizing system.
CONSTITUTION: On a substrate 3 like glass, an amorphous alloy thin film 12 having the easy magnetizing axis 13 toward vertical film surface is formed by vapor deposition of GeFe and TbFe. Next, the thin film 12 is irradiated and swept with a laser beam having 500mWW1W of power, heat treatment and crystallization are made. The part is taken as an optical guide area 14 having the easy magnetizing axis in parallel with the film surface, and the part not radiated is taken as an area 10 having the easy magnetizing axis in the vertical direction to the film surface.
