Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a starting method of a single shaft gas turbine in a pump set of the gas turbine to reduce powder necessary for a pump in low speed.
CONSTITUTION: Whan a pump 13 is started, its rotational speed is increased under idling condition, i.e. substantially no-load condition of the pump until output generated by a single spindle gas turbine (not shown) for driving the pump 13 becomes larger than powder necessary for rising of the pump 13. Then, an intake valve 12 is operated to close a path to a drain pipe 17, and pumped-up liquid 11 fully opens a path leading to the pump 13 and begins to be supplied. To minimize impact of the liquid 11 to the pump 13 at that time, a main discharge valve 14 is closed and only a bypass valve 15 is set to the minimum allowable opening. Next, the speed of the pump is raised from this condition to a rated rotational speed and the main discharge valve 14 is adjustable operated to provide a required discharge amount. The pumped-up liquid thus discharged is introduced through a discharge pipe 18 into a nozzle or the like for work.
