Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently perform pump starting with little vibration by presetting the operational sequence of respective parts required for starting the pump, such as a side valve, a main valve and guide vanes and successively operating these parts in response to the increase in the runner discharge pressure.
CONSTITUTION: After the rotation of a runner has reached a predetermined rotational speed, the runner discharge pressure increases, and the first runner discharge pressure in established. Upon this occasion, the side valve 13 of an inlet valve beings to open. Even during the opening operation of the side valve 13 the seal 14 of the inlet valve beings to open by the establishment of the second runner discharge pressure, and a main valve 8 begins to open under a condition that the downstream side has fully opened. Even during the opening operation of this main valve, if the runner discharge pressure reaches a pressure sufficient for pumping-up, and a third runner discharge pressure is established, movable guide vanes 6 begin to open, and driving of the pump is started.
